Hi, I’m Julie Howell

Your health coach and nutritionist. I have a deep understanding of the complexities around gut health and the connection between what you eat and how you feel. I will help you understand your gut microbiome and optimise your eating habits to support a longer, healthier life. To live longer, better.

I do it because investing in your own health and wellbeing has never been more important. Our health system is currently under immense strain and isn’t primarily focused on providing the ongoing support needed to get and stay healthy.

With university qualifications in nutrition and psychology, I’m aware that eating habits and lifestyle choices are among the most difficult behaviours to change. I trained as a health and wellness coach to complement my nutrition qualifications, but more importantly to support and empower clients to become the healthiest version of themselves for now and into the future.

Working one-on-one with a health practitioner is a reciprocal relationship and I understand that you may want to determine if I am the right fit for you. What is healthy ageing?

Ageing is an inevitable biological process, but it doesn’t have to be full of health concerns, management and disease. Healthy ageing is “the process of developing and maintaining the functional ability that enables wellbeing in older age” (World Health Assembly, 2016).

Our approach to healthy ageing emphasises preventative health through nutritional and dietary strategies, promoting good gut health, and fostering sustainable healthy lifestyle changes.

These methods have been proven to slow the ageing process and increase a healthy life span.

  • Lifespan and health are influenced by nutrition via the nutrients obtained from food and by their influence on growth, metabolism, energy balance and cellular repair. Ageing is typically accompanied by functional changes in the body, which makes the nutritional requirements of older adults different to younger adults, with greater emphasis on supporting metabolism and repair. We promote healthy ageing based on current and emerging dietary knowledge and verifiable evidence-based information.

  • Research is increasingly implicating gut health in brain-related disorders from depression to Parkinson’s disease and dementia, and helps explain why the gut is often referred to as the “second brain”. Dietary changes and a healthy lifestyle can help delay the onset of age-related cognitive decline, and even reduce the risk of developing dementia, including Alzheimer’s disease according to recent research.

    Our signature approach that combines health coaching and nutrition guidance is more powerful, more effective and more likely to help you achieve positive long-term health outcomes so you can live longer, better.

  • As a nutritionist, I provide evidence-based nutrition advice and guidance to help you improve your eating habits, learn about healthy eating for longevity, lose weight, or better understand your gut microbiome and how it may be impacting your overall health.

    But as empowering as nutrition advice and information can be, it is only one part of the health journey. Changing health behaviours is significant in effect but often difficult to implement. People do better at making lasting changes when they have support.

    As a result of specialised training, health coaches function as behaviour change experts and help facilitate change across all modifiable lifestyle factors. And that’s why our approach works.

Are you interested in making healthy lifestyle changes to extend your health span for now and into future years? In this initial consultation, we will take a comprehensive look into your health and wellness to gain insight into your diet and lifestyle patterns and behaviours.

Our evidence-based approach equips you with practical tools to create and sustain positive change. You are the leader, and this approach supports the changes you want to implement.

  • Diet and lifestyle changes that work for one person may not work for another. When you work one-on-one with me you get a personalised plan built specifically for you.

    Before building your personalized plan, as your nutrition coach I will learn about you and your current health status, what makes you unique and what changes you seek. This information will help determine the best strategies to implement to help you reach your health and wellness goals.

  • Consider your nutrition coach as your personal support system throughout your journey. I'm here to listen, understand, empathise, ask questions and offer ideas; all of which will help you get closer to hitting your goals.

    There’s nothing like the support you receive from someone who gets to know you and your journey better. As a nutrition coach, I'm dedicated and committed to your goals and helping you reach them in an approachable and sustainable way by offering the support you wouldn’t receive from a less hands-on approach like a self-paced plan or fad diet.

  • Education will be at the forefront of our nutrition coaching, and by offering relevant information you will have the tools to feel knowledgeable and empowered for the long-term.

    I'm not here to feed you information that you can’t tangibly apply to your own life. By sharing knowledge in an easily digestible format (pun intended!) I can arm you with the know-how to take the things we talk about in sessions and bring them into real life in ways that are personally applicable to you.

    When you work with a nutrition coach you don’t just get the support, you also get access to a variety of resources.

  • Reaching your goals isn’t just about building knowledge and gathering information, it’s about transformation. Having someone who is asking hard-hitting questions, holding you responsible for reaching goals, and frequently checking in to measure your progress is the key to success.

    Successfully achieving health goals starts with building them and showing your nutrition coach that you are committed to delivering the strategies that you discuss together. I'll be there to give you gentle nudges and reminders when you need them in order for you to keep moving forward.
